Preschool for 3-year-old children – preschool 4 days per week for 3 hours per day. Transportation and meals are provided free of charge. Parents are welcome in the classroom. The cost for this program is $100 per month. Children must be three by August 31 of the program year. Space is limited to 24 children. Twelve slots are available to low-income families at no cost through ECEAP.

Three-year olds work on developing their thinking skills and the understanding of basic concepts through play. Their learning experiences include following directions, development of their large and small muscle skills, independence and self-help skills. Three-year olds love to talk and love to be talked to through conversation, reading, singing, finger plays, and through playing with their friends.
Below is a brief list of list of some of the skills you will see practiced in the three-year old classroom over the school year.

MATH READINESS
Discussion of shapes, recognition of simple shapes in their environment
Counting out loud to at least 5
Counting three objects or more
Doing simple patterns

THE ARTS:

Music, Art, Science and Social Studies Skills
Singing and dancing, playing simple instruments, rhythm
Art projects (painting, coloring, drawing, etc.)
Science concepts (pouring, sifting, shaking, sorting)

READING READINESS
Interest in books (reading, listening, following left to right)
Recognition of at least six colors
Identifying same and different
An understanding of position words (up, down, under)
Recognizing their own printed name

FINE MOTOR SKILLS
Properly holding crayons and pencils, using them on a variety of surfaces
Properly holding and using scissors to cut paper
Painting using brushes, fingers and other materials
Pasting and gluing
Assembling simple puzzles
Manipulating play dough
Manipulating zippers, buttons, and snaps
Stringing beads
PRACTICAL/LIFE SKILLS
Identifying main body parts
Following simple oral directions
Saying first and last name
Bathroom skills (hand washing after use, flushing, wiping self)
Dressing self (coats, shoes, hats, changing clothes without assistance)
Washing and drying hands alone
LISTENING AND SPEAKING SKILLS
Listening quietly to stories
Responding to stories through actions or words
Speaking clearly
Saying sentences of at least four words
SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL SKILLS
Showing respect and concern for people and things
