Pacific Science Center's Space Odyssey program
| Jean, from the Pacific Science Center, begins a tale of two slugs from Willapa Harbor who decide to move to another planet. The slugs think that it is too cold, rainy, and windy here, and want to visit the other planets in our solar system. Each planet has something that makes it unsuitable. |
| Each student has a drawing of the solar system, and is asked to label the objections for each planet. |
The sun is in the middle of the room and the students are talking about the spinning and revolving around the sun at the same time. |
| In Mr. Lee's class Jean talks about the different phases of the moon. |
Eight small photos of the different phases of the moon are given to the students. The students then try to figure out the sequence starting from a new moon. |
| Jean turns on the artificial sun, and the students hold a small wooden ball straight out from their bodies, and then slowly turn around while watching light change on the wooden ball. The kids suddenly get it, and race back to their seats to re-arrainge their photos. |
