• Don and Bertha Koplitz
    Mrs. Bertha Koplitz was a teacher in the South Bend School District for twenty years, and as the varsity coach, she achieved a record of 283 wins, 0 losses, and 3 ties in badminton, 384 wins and 84 losses in girls' volleyball, 330 wins and 127 losses in girls' basketball.

    She advised the Girls' Letter Club for twenty-two years, Pep Club and cheerleaders for twelve years, Girls' Drill Team for fourteen years, and a track coach for fourteen years, she achieved a record of 1st or 2nd in league each of those years, and as a coach took her teams to the State Tournament for fourteen years in track, four years in volleyball, four years in basketball, and she also coached Junior High School volleyball, basketball, and track, conducted open gym for twenty-three years, and was chairperson of the league for girls' sports for fifteen years;

    THEREFORE, be it resolved, the South Bend School District Board of Directors, at its regularly scheduled meeting on August 22, 1996, hereby takes official action to formally express its appreciation to Bertha Koplitz and acknowledge her achievements in the South Bend School District athletic programs by placing her name on the South Bend High School "Wall of Fame."
     

    Don Koplitz

    Mr. Don Koplitz was Principal of South Bend High School for twenty years, and as a basketball coach for twenty years he accumulated 328 wins, averaging 17.4 wins per season. He was also Head Varsity Basketball Coach for South Bend High School for fourteen years. His teams qualified for the district tournament every year and qualified for the State tournament for seven of those years. He coached baseball for thirteen years at South Bend High School, and he has served as a member of the district A and B Basketball Committee for fifteen years. He holds the unique distinction of winning 300 Varsity Boy's Basketball games faster than any other coach in the State of Washington, and he was elected to the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association's Basketball Coaches' Hall of Fame

    Therefore, be it resolved, the South Bend School District Board of Directors, at its regularly scheduled meeting on August 22, 1996, hereby takes official action to formally express its appreciation to Don Koplitz and acknowledge his achievements in the South Bend School District sports program by placing his name on the South Bend High School "Wall of Fame."
